{"id":671,"date":"2025-06-16T10:48:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T10:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marinemalawi.com\/?p=671"},"modified":"2025-06-20T10:58:40","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T10:58:40","slug":"russia-has-fulfilled-istanbul-promises-top-negotiator-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marinemalawi.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/16\/russia-has-fulfilled-istanbul-promises-top-negotiator-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Russia has fulfilled Istanbul promises \u2013 top negotiator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The bodies of over 6,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been handed over to Kiev as agreed, Vladimir Medinsky has announced<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Russia has returned the bodies of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers, Moscow\u2019s chief negotiator for the Ukraine conflict, Vladimir Medinsky, has said.<\/p>\n<p>Moscow repatriated a total of 6,060 sets of military remains, the presidential aide said in an update posted on Telegram on Monday. Kiev returned the bodies of 78 slain Russian soldiers, he added.<\/p>\n<p>The exchange was agreed upon during the latest round of direct talks between Moscow and Kiev, hosted by T\u00fcrkiye, in June. Medinsky\u2019s Ukrainian counterpart, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, suggested at the time that Kiev would hand over an equal number of killed Russian troops.<\/p>\n<p>In April, Ukraine&#8217;s Vladimir Zelensky stated in the interview that Ukraine had lost up to 100,000 troops since the escalation of the conflict in 2022. Russian Defense Ministry estimates suggest that Kiev\u2019s losses are an order of magnitude higher than that, as of the end of 2024, with more than half of the total casualties suffered that year.<\/p>\n<p>\n        <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/russia\/618913-west-demand-ukraine-conscript-18yo\/\"><br \/>\n            <span>READ MORE: <\/span>Kiev\u2019s backers demanded Ukraine conscript 18-year-olds \u2013 Zelensky<br \/>\n        <\/a>\n    <\/p>\n<p>The handover of military remains to Ukraine was jeopardized after Kiev reportedly refused to accept the first batch, on June 7.
