{"id":723,"date":"2025-06-15T17:03:48","date_gmt":"2025-06-15T17:03:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marinemalawi.com\/?p=723"},"modified":"2025-06-20T10:58:58","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T10:58:58","slug":"putin-congratulates-xi-on-his-birthday-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marinemalawi.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/15\/putin-congratulates-xi-on-his-birthday-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Putin congratulates Xi on his birthday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit China to attend events marking the 80th anniversary of its victory over Imperial Japan in World War II<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended birthday greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping, 72, according to a statement from Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe president wished his Chinese counterpart and friend all the very best,\u201d<\/em> Peskov said.<\/p>\n<p>The message comes on the heels of a visit by Xi in May, when he traveled to Moscow to participate in celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Soviet victory in World War II. Xi and Putin held a formal meeting at the Kremlin on May 8, joined by senior delegations from both sides. He also thanked the Chinese leader for attending the commemorative event and confirmed his own plans to visit China for ceremonies marking the defeat of militarist Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Beijing has advocated a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict since it escalated in 2022. It has also been critical of the West\u2019s unilateral sanctions against Russia and blamed NATO expansion for provoking the crisis.
